Diving Robots In 1994 Laurence Dunn accidentally asked Jeff to join a band which would eventually become The Schidt. Reverend Dunn walked into The Evergreen State College Dorm Room #D204 early in the 1994/95 school year and asked a crowd that included girls that he actually wanted to have in his band) "Does anyone want to be in a band?" Unluckily, Jeff Henry was the only taker. At the time Jeff Could only sing, but he soon picked up the kick-ass punk rock instrument known as the recorder. You know the flute they made you learn to play in first grade. After Laurence stopped laughing about the instrument, he began to teach Jeff some of the most beautiful simple pop gems ever to grace The Evergreen State College dorms. After a little practice and no live shows, they recorded their first album on tape in yet another Evergreen dorm room. Assisted by Adam Goldman (thebrotheregg) The Schidt recorded the first album, Pre-Beer, completely drunk and in front of an audience that never peaked 4 people. Their second album, Frownland, was created similarly with live tracks and some four-track work featuring Kevin Riach on percussion. Eventually they started playing out live and were soon joined by talented bassist Sam Ross. They originally played with Riach on drums, but eventually were joined by Brian Bressler. Shortly after the recorded the first self-titled album available from Dunn's label Shaggy Frog Records. They changed their name to 1000 Diving Robots after a Discovery Magazine article about mad scientists, the ocean future and robot trash. Their first album was bouncy and filled with pop hooks that tattoos the minds of all that heard them. It as recorded with Steve Wold(producer for early Modest Mouse currently residing in Norway) in Moon Music Studio is in the heart of downtown Olympia. Bressler eventually left to pursue a degree in automotive engineering. After playing out as a trio for a few shows, The Robots added Drummer Sam Jansons who turned out to be a perfect fit. They continued playing around the Northwest, and eventually headed into the studios again to record in 2000. The band disbanded shortly thereafter. Laurence still plays and writes music in Maine and Jeff and Sam Jansons play in Rosyvelt with Louis O'Callaghan. Sam Ross has played in thebrotheregg, Twinklelingus, The Red Venus Love Army on cello and bass and piccolo bass.
Jeff

Safety Songs theme for a year. Last year they finished off the lyrics
and began to record with Adam Goldman in Portland, Oregon. The album

"Oxygen", "First Class" and many more catchy 60's-esque
jangly pop songs. Anne's voice is beautiful and Henry's harmonies compliment
them well. Upon finishing the recording they will putting out their
first record. Don't miss it. The
Graze has been in a few Seattle bands, most recently Utah
Anvil (formerly Shiloh), and previously Summerset Frisbee
(members of the Delusions) and Log Lady. He's also
played under the name Beautiful
harmonies and lush vocals over haunting accordian.
